AUGUST (So far)

I made a goal to take a picture a day--just one.  My goal has been going pretty eh, but it's been really cool to see and remember some of the things that have happened. It's really amazing to see how you've been blessed when you have even a simple picture record of what's happened to you.

This is Alissa during one of our "Sister Sleepovers".  She was pretty much just mad at me and wanted to go to bed.  Her dog Lucky didn't look too comfortable however, and I'm not sure he agreed.

Youth Conference.  Oh, there are so many things I could say about youth conference.  But I'll sum it up like this: our ward is interesting, but awesome.  This is during our lovely game of "Paddleboat Pirates".  Except for, it wasn't really a game.  It was war.

After I got home from youth conference, we went up the canyon and had Grandad's famous enchilada's, and oh my, let me tell you they were amazing.  Oh, and I guess the company was okay too. Just kidding family, you know I love you!

Cross country camp, this week.  Brutal, bloody, and a definite adventure, but a lot of fun!  And what can I say--I love my team!

I'M POSTING!!!!!! JULY (in a wrap!)

Wow, can you believe this? I'm posting.  July's been a super crazy month, but really really fun! Here's my month in a nutshell... Or just a blog post.
Up at the property with my dad.  It's so gorgeous up there! It really makes you wonder what this area looked like before, well, we arrived.
My EFY company--Lean Not.  An amazing company! We had an incredible week, and I wouldn't have traded it for the world.

Cross Country Camp at BYU.  It was a lot of fun--and I didn't die like I thought I would. This was after our run to Stewart Falls.  And just for the record, all cross country boys take off their shirts.  Even the ones at BYU.  It's like a curse or something.

Just hanging out with friends at my friends Derrek and Tyler's sweet 16 party! It was great.  And let me just say, I kicked trash at croquet.  Sorta.

Youth Council at Foam Day! I'm so grateful my friends convinced me to join Youth Council.  It's a blast! Plus, they even occasionally trust us with dangerous things like whistles, stopwatches, and authority! What's not to like?

Hanging out at Wolf Creek.  It was an amazing vacation.  Just what the doctor ordered.  I got, like, 9 hours of sleep... EVERY NIGHT! A. MAZE. ING.

Um, don't ask.  This is one of those things that's just a testament to my klutziness.

Jason's blessing! It was really great, and he was a really happy guy the whole time.  He did awesome.  (Although my grandfather is now saying that Jason wants a chocolate flavored pacifier, instead of the bland plastic one he has now.  I think the reason they don't have chocolate pacifiers isn't because of the babies--it's because the adults would walk around with them too.)

IN TRIBUTE TO GIRLS' CAMP...

I just got home from girls' camp on Saturday, and the camp songs are still rattling around inside my head along with "Like We Used To" and a song from Tangled.  It's getting kinda crowed inside there.  So in their honor, I'm going to write a few of them down here so you can hum them as you're doing the dishes too.

MORMON BOYS
I love mormon boys and I cannot lie
you other sisters can't deny
when a guy walks in with his scriptures in his case
and a smile on his face you get a date
a celestial mate!
but wait!
he's going on a mission, leaving you wishing you had a man
to hold your hand
So deacons, what?
teachers, what?
we don't like your features!
Cuz your brothers are hot and you are not
so give us those righteous priests! (Insert lady-like grunt and fist pump here)

TAKE ME BACK HOME TO LEHI
Take me back home to Lehi
Take me home to my bed
Buy me some soap and some razor blades
Let me sleep in for a couple of days cuz it's
Root, root, root for hot showers
If the phone don't ring it's a shame
Cuz it's texting, ipods, don't forget boys
Back in old Lehi!

You can ask Sister Kitchen about that last part.  In fact, please do.  I'm sure she'd love to tell you about it!

A ONE SENTENCE SUMMARY OF MY LIFE

It's been quite a while since I've posted.

Now, I'm not saying that I haven't had extremely exciting stuff to publish about since March.  Like AP tests.  Those are fun.

But really, I've just been lazy.  So I might as well start my soon-to-be-short-lived-blogging-craze.  I'll be lucky if it lasts a month.

Or even just a week.

I'll give you a quick summary of my life, since March, in one sentence:  Well, first of all I had track which was fun but stressful, and then I had an AP test, my mom's pregnant and due tomorrow, I got my licence and can drive and do drive everywhere, school ended and it rocks, cross country started, I've gotten asked on three first dates and still haven't gone on one yet, it was my birthday and I got an iphone and the most gorgeous earrings ever, my best friend is moving and the house across the street is for sale and I'm REALLY hoping a cute priest moves in and well, that's about it.

It probably wouldn't be a good idea to show my next year's English teacher that lovely run on sentence.

My Ghostly Visit

The title sounds a lot more exciting than it really is, I promise.

A couple of nights ago, I'm pretty sure I was visited by the spirit of the Cookie Monster.  I had a sudden desire for a peanutbutter cup cookie.  If only I was 16 and could have gone to the store for some...

One day.

My Shock of the Day (well, night...)

Last night, after my shower, I had my hair in a towel and all my make-up off, and I looked in the mirror.  And I realized something.  I would have been a really cute boy.

Hmm.

I'm really glad I'm not :)

Blog Post Numero 3 (in which I officially feel important)

So today, as I sit happily doing my history homework (did I say happily?  "Imagine the most horrible, terrifying, evil thing you can possibly think of and multiply it...by six!" Name that movie!) and my sister shows up with a big looking fancy envelope with like 6 stamps on it.  Now, the fact that someone spent a dollar and thirty-eight cents sending you something does kind of bost the ole' self confidence.  Did I mention this envelope had my name on it?  Miss Emily Allen.  I really did feel officially important.
Not to mention, when I opened said envelope, this is what I got:

Lots and lots of paper.  I felt loved.  And important.  And special.  And genuienly appreciated.  Unfortunatly, it's for one of those leadership conferences.  You know the ones where you go to D.C. and everyone on your block gets one and no one goes?  Yeah.  And the kicker?  It just so happens to be $2,360, not including the plane ticket there.

So even if Marguerite C. Regan who signed the bottom of the letter all fancy loves me that much, my parents definitly don't.

Just kidding.  I love you guys!  You love me lots, I know!  (Can you tell I want to sleep in the house tonight?  Good thing we don't have a doghouse.)

Signing off and procrastinating my history, yours truly,
Em
